Time For Cleaning

Another long walk and before we got back it was really, really warm!  Michael tackled his wire searching project again and I started in cleaning our desert dusty rig.

This motorhome came with a Splendide combination washer/dryer.  To non-RVers that means the front loading machine washes and dries in the same tub.  Drying is a term used loosely as if you want clothes to dry, you might need a few hours!  But, it washes well and Pat has a clothesline so tonight we will sleep on sun dried sheets—the best!

I volunteered to cook dinner tonight for Mike and Pat as well as Larry and Gerri.  Grilled pork chops, sautéed asparagus, garlic mashed potatoes and pinto beans.  It was a very enjoyable evening.  Larry and Gerri entertained us by telling stories of when they both drove huge log trucks in South Dakota.  Gerri is something of a legend being the only woman in that area of South Dakota who mastered driving one of those log trucks loaded with tons of logs!

Our rig is nice and clean now, I still need to do a couple things but much better than it was when we left the desert Tuesday.

JoAnn and Doug stopped by today to seek Mike and Pat’s help with their Pressure Pro tire monitoring system.  Pat quickly solved their problems and we again said our goodbyes to them and Fillmore.

Had some surprise visitors today—our friend Caryl who with her husband own a place in Congress, Heather who we haven’t seen in years, we used to shoot with she and her husband Dan and Elaine who we also shot with.  It was so good to see them.

We are so enjoying our time here with Mike and Pat—it is so gracious of them to allow us to park here on their lot.

My Mom called today with sad news.  Her oldest sister, my Aunt Lola, died today.  She was 83 years old and I had the privilege of getting to see her at Christmas time while home in Arkansas.  Mom is one of six daughters.  While we never think our older aunts and uncles should leave us, my extended family is growing older as the years pass.  Aunt Lola was such a southern lady and always kept a beautiful home—we will miss her.

  1. Very sorry to hear about the loss of your Aunt Lola. I've lost quite a few aunts and uncles over the past several years and it's sad to see them go. Just makes me more determined to take advantage of the time I have left!
