Catching Up Time

Whew!!  Five loads of laundry—one in the dryer and the last one in the washer, vacuumed, dusted, unpacked—OK, I think I need another vacation.  Preferably one that involves massages, good for you food and no hiking!!!

It is so good to be home with Emmi and Michael—we took our usual walk this morning, the grass is green, lots of the trees have tiny green leaves and the wildflowers are popping up everywhere.IMG_3295

I had presents waiting for me when I got home.  Right before I left Karen from Karen In The Woods emailed and asked if I would like to have an apple peeler—since I didn’t have one I replied, “yes I would, can I pay the postage?”  No, Karen wouldn’t let me pay the postage and now I have an apple peeler:IMG_3301Thanks Karen!!

Sue from Big Dawg and Freeway sent me the book The Art Of Racing In The Rain and I can’t wait to start reading it—thanks Sue!!IMG_3303

IMG_3299Emmi has skin lesion issues sometimes and I think the lesions are what the vets call hot spots.  While I was gone she developed a huge reddened, weepy area—I cleaned the area last night, bathed her and applied cortisone cream.  This morning it looked a lot better.  After our walk she got a haircut and looks much skinner than she does in the above photo I took while we were out walking.  The lesions are a lot better this afternoon.

We took a drive over to Clyde Park this evening—it has been an icky day weather wise—rain storms, sleet and a bitter wind.  But there were periods of sunshine, too.IMG_3305

  2. Love the zebra stripe propane tank.
Those apple peelers are handy things to have, especially in years with lots of apples. I don't think our crop will be the best this year. DH thinks most of them froze.

  3. I enjoy reading your blog posts. We used to go to Church Camp every summer on the Boulder. We would alway stop at McLeod and would go back into town once and go swinning. Such great memories. I also have an apple peeler like yours only mine is my grandmothers. Several years after she passed, I asked my mother for her apple peeler and rolling pin. I have both now and use them alot. I had purchased a new fangled one (plastic see through) I couldn't get it to peel. Thanks gramma.

Keep posting, I love to hear about your weather, farmlife and of course your quilting.

    Howdy Janna & Mike,
I guess we'll all be eating Chinese apples this year, as I just got an email saying Michigan lost their crop also!! Wonder what they taste like?? Sounds
like you do need another rest to get over your recent one!! You should have gotten the girls to come up there and hiked all over the ranch and mountains!
OH NOOO, then we wouldn't have seen all of the BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY y'all took us to!! Well, it would have been closer to home!!! In about a week you'll feel like 'hiking' to town!! Yeah.. Right!!! Thanx again, for the WONDERFUL TRIP!!

  5. Glad you got the peeler safe and sound! Also I sent a separate envelope a day later with an extra pad and the instructions I found in the cabinet.

When Duke gets his hot spots, I used to use the cortizone cream, but found a "hot spot" skin medicine made by Solfadene at the local farm supply chain (Fleet Farm) it's a liquid to dab on with a cotton ball ... less messy on the fur than the cortizone cream and works good.

  6. Do you think Emmi was just depressed and worried about you being away? Hope the cortisone clears her up fast. In any event she'll be happy now that her Mom is home.

I have no idea how that apple peeler works!
